SFD Systems Shows Video Electronic Shelf Labels at Retail Week Live

SFD Systems showed off its new video electronic shelf labels at Retail Week Live in London 8th-9th March 2017.

The show brought the industry together to discuss the latest issues, trends and innovations in retail.  As expected, there was a big emphasis on how to make omnichannel truly work and we enjoyed a lot of discussions about how SFD’s shelf-edge technology can support this.  Ideas muted included:

  • Live price-matching in-store with online competitors
  • Publishing digital product reviews at shelf edge
  • Recognising individual consumers at the point of purchase and delivering customised offers

We’ll certainly be encouraging customers to road-test these ideas.  Of course, it wasn’t all about us – our top 3 conference snippets were:

  • 35% of digital ad-spend is now on video – reinforcing our belief that there will be great demand for video promotions at shelf-edge
  • 10% of Ikea’s Google clicks lead to an in-store visit – indicating stores do still have a future
  • 8 million Chinese shoppers used Alibaba’s augmented reality shopping experience on singles day – demonstrating how open Chinese consumers are to new retail experiences
